The Al-Jazeera news channel says one of its freelance reporters was killed in northern Syria by air strikes in the town of Termanin in the Idlib Province on July 11.
The Doha-based channel identified the journalist as "Ibrahim al-Omar, who reported for the Al-Jazeera Mubasher live channel."
Local activists say eight people were killed in the air strikes that hit a diesel market. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 14, saying dozens more were wounded.
The Associated Press news agency quoted Syria-based activist Ahmad Barbour as saying Omar had gone to Termanin to cover the aftermath of the first air raid when another struck, killing him instantly.
At least six Al-Jazeera staff members have been killed while covering the Syrian conflict, which broke out in 2011, the channel said.
The Paris-based Reporters Without Borders says seven journalists were killed in Syria last year, while 15 were killed in 2014.
