Syria Buries Victims Of Damascus Bombing

Syria has held funerals for 26 victims of a Damascus suicide bombing that the government says was a terrorist attack but opponents accuse the administration of staging.

Crowds marched along the funeral route shouting support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Opposition groups have suggested the government orchestrated the bombing to tar opponents in the continuing Arab Spring-inspired unrest.

The January 6 blast came as an Arab League committee prepared for a discussion on January 8 of an initial report by its observers. The observers are checking Syria's compliance with an Arab League plan to halt Assad's crackdown on nearly 10 months of protests and armed resistance.
