Russia President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon have vowed to continue their countries' security cooperation.
Following talks in Moscow on April 17, the Kremlin released a statement saying the two leaders agreed to continue joint efforts to "fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and the illegal trade in weapons."
Rahmon is in the Russian capital on a two-day official visit. He and Putin were due to sign a raft of documents, including one on increasing Tajik agricultural exports to Russia.
Ahead of the talks on April 17 with Putin, Rahmon said at a meeting with the members of the Tajik community in Moscow that regulation of labor migration and protection of rights and interests of Tajik citizens in Russia will top the agenda of his meetings with the Russian leadership.
Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry, in turn, said agreements on cooperation in the migration sector are also to be signed.
During a meeting with State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in Moscow on April 16, Rahmon said that they will include an agreement on "organized recruitment of migrant workers from Tajikistan."
There are hundreds of thousands of labor migrants from Central Asia and the Caucasus living and working in Russia.
