Devastation In Tajikistan As Communities Wrecked By Flooding

The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense reported that nearly 300 properties were flooded and damaged in the region.

The Shakhrinav district, which is situated between Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe and Uzbekistan, sustained damage to 216 farms spread across five communities, making the western section of the country the worst affected.

Over 130 kilometers of roads and at least 14 bridges were damaged by the flooding.
 

Tajikistan has faced continuous heavy rainfall, leading to frequent mudslides, floods, and rockfalls.

These floods are often exacerbated by the country's poor infrastructure, which is ill-equipped to handle extreme weather events.

Tajikistan is coming to terms with flooding that has claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl, destroying homes and livelihoods.
