DUSHANBE -- A top U.S. diplomat has held talks in Dushanbe focusing on bilateral ties and the situation in Afghanistan.
Richard Hoagland, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, met in the Tajik capital with President Emomali Rahmon.
The Tajik president's press service said that the two discussed the situation in the region following the scheduled withdrawal of NATO-led troops from Afghanistan at the end of this year.
The two also focused on ways of attracting U.S. investors in the Tajik economy and issues related to the implementation of regional projects.
Hoagland, who is on a tour of Central Asia, served as the U.S. ambassador to Tajikistan from 2003 to 2006.
