Tajikistan's Emergencies Committee said on May 6 that mudslides and floods caused by heavy rains killed three women over the weekend. The mudslides were registered in the Central Asian nation’s regions of Sughd, Khatlon, and the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region, as well as in several districts surrounding Dushanbe, the capital. In neighboring Kyrgyzstan, mudslides caused by heavy rains hit southern regions of Batken and Jalal-Abad on May 5, damaging local infrastructure and buildings in several districts.
