The Taliban has released a video that appears to show militants executing 16 Pakistani tribal policemen who reportedly were captured during a cross-border raid from Afghanistan earlier this summer.
The video shows the policemen being shot dead after being lined up on a hillside with their hands tied behind their backs. The video includes a note saying the policemen were captured on June 1, when hundreds of Taliban raided Pakistan's northwest Dir district from the eastern Afghan province of Kunar.
Pakistan army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas confirmed the contents of the video. He said the Taliban fighters who executed the policemen came from the Swat Valley.
Meanwhile, NATO said three of its soldiers were killed in the same part of eastern Afghanistan by a roadside bomb on July 18. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) did not disclose the nationalities of the soldiers.
