Iran has accused the U.S. Navy of carrying out "illegal and provocative acts" in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Iran's Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaee said on November 23 that the U.S. Navy had repeatedly violated his country's airspace.
In identical letters to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Security Council, he cited flights over the coastal areas of Bushehr on seven occasions in October and a recent U.S. drone flight on November 1, which disregarded all radio warnings and penetrated Iranian airspace.
The letters urged the UN to warn Washington "against the continuation of acts in violation of international law."
It also warns of "adverse consequences" for any provocative acts.
