Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has paid an unscheduled visit to Afghanistan following the deaths of three Turkmen border guards.
Meredov, who is also deputy prime minister, met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and other Afghan officials this week.
Media reports in Afghanistan say Meredov and Afghan officials discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy, transport, and humanitarian spheres, as well as interaction between the two countries' foreign ministries.
Earlier this week, Afghan officials announced that three Turkmen border guards had been killed by insurgents in the northern province of Faryab, which borders Turkmenistan.
