'If I Disappear, Forgive Me': Missing Gay Turkmen's Plea

Kasymberdy Garayev, a young doctor, has gone missing after sharing details of the difficulties of living secretly as a gay man in Turkmenistan. Garayev was called in by Ashgabat police on October 24 and has not been heard from since. Members of his family are also missing. On October 13, he recorded this video message, saying he feared being "forcibly taken away."
