Israel's first-ever ambassador to Turkmenistan has presented his credentials to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.
Turkmen media reported that Shemi Tzur also gave Berdymukhammedov an invitation from President Shimon Peres to visit Israel.
Tzur was the second candidate Israel proposed to take up the ambassador's post in Turkmenistan.
The first candidate to be Israeli ambassador was Rueven Daniel, a former Mossad agent whose nomination reportedly raised protests from Turkmenistan's southern neighbor Iran and was subsequently rejected.
Israel and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations in 1992, but it was not until 2009 that Israel announced an intention to send an ambassador to Turkmenistan.
