Reports from Iraq’s northern Kurdish region say a double bombing near the headquarters of an Iranian Kurdish opposition party has killed seven people – including five members of the Iranian opposition group.

The bombings on December 20 hit the town of Koysinjaq in Iraq’s Kurdish autonomous region at about 10 p.m. local time, killing five members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran along with a security officer and a child.

The Kurdish region’s deputy interior minister, Jala Karim, confirmed the casualty toll.

Bombings in Iraq’s relatively secure Kurdish region are rare compared to other parts of the country.
