'We're Firing Shells All The Time': Ukraine Blasts Russian Positions Along Front Line

Ukrainian soldiers of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade fire a 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer toward Russian positions near the town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region on June 25.  

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was upbeat about his military's progress during his daily video address late on June 26, calling it a "happy day."

"Today, in all directions, our soldiers advanced, and it is a happy day. I wish the boys more days like this," Zelenskiy said.

Tree branches are used to conceal the howitzer from enemy drones.

The medic works quickly to stop the flow of blood.

"I can tell you that we're firing shells all the time. Each day, we have three to four missions because our guys are on the offensive. They are trying to get through their defenses. We work all the time," says Ihor, who mans a 2S1 Gvozdika howitzer.

Battles have continued around the shattered town of Chasiv Yar.

Ukraine has made advances on the southern and eastern parts of the front line, but Russia is fighting back, destroying Western-supplied weaponry.

 

Kyiv claims its soldiers have "advanced in all directions" as its counteroffensive against Moscow's invading forces continues in eastern Ukraine.
