A memorial has been unveiled in the Kyiv region city of Bucha to memorialize the civilians who died there while it was occupied by Russian forces in the early part of 2022. The Ukrainian government and international monitors have accused Russian forces of war crimes resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians during the occupation in the weeks following Russia's massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The memorial, which was opened on July 2, lists the names of 501 Bucha civilians killed. Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk spoke at the unveiling, saying: "We cannot forget this. We cannot forgive."
