Ukraine Stops For A Minute Of Silence On Defenders' Day

Traffic came to halt in Kyiv and around Ukraine as it marks its national "Defenders' Day" on October 1. Makeshift memorials in Ukraine's yellow and blue colors appeared at squares and cemeteries across the country in honor of soldiers who died in the ongoing war against invading Russian forces. In central Kyiv, people carrying portraits of their fallen loved ones shared their emotions.
