Ukrainian Military Doctor Returns To Service After 'Brutal' Russian Captivity

Volodymyr Labuzov was captured in April 2022 when the Ukrainian port of Mariupol fell to Russian forces after weeks of fighting. Labuzov, a military doctor who had been working in a makeshift hospital in the area, was one of 2,500 prisoners taken by the Russians. Released in a prisoner swap after seven months, he recalls that the Ukrainian captives were treated "brutally."
