Thousands of Jewish pilgrims celebrated the Jewish New Year 5784 in Uman on September 15. The Ukrainian city is home to the grave of Rabbi Nachman (1772-1810), a key figure for the Hasidic movement in Judaism. Pilgrims from Israel, the United States, and other countries have defied warnings from Ukrainian and Israeli authorities that travelers to Ukraine must be aware of the risk of Russian air attacks.
