Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court on June 14 sentenced former Kyiv judge Mykola Chaus to 10 years in prison after finding him guilty of taking a bribe. The court also ruled to confiscate Chaus' property and barred him from taking posts in the judicial system for three years. Chaus has denied the charges and his lawyers said they will appeal it. Chaus fled Ukraine in 2016 after a probe was launched against him. In 2021, he was "abducted" in Moldova and brought to Ukraine. Investigative journalists said at the time that Ukraine's intelligence service was involved in the "abduction," which Kyiv has denied.
