Kyiv's oldest movie theatre, the Zhovten cinema dating from 1931, was gutted by fire after an incendiary smoke bomb was thrown during a film shown as part of a series of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movies. Firefighters were cleaning the wreckage on October 30, following the attack the previous evening. No-one was injured. On October 27 a crowd had gathered outside the cinema to protest about a series of LGBT movies being screened as part of a film festival. (RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service)
