U.S. President Barack Obama has said that Russia is not abiding by the recent Geneva agreement intended to de-escalate the crisis in Ukraine.
Speaking in Japan on April 24, Obama said that "so far at least," Moscow has not taken measures to implement the agreement.
Obama added that if Russia does not fulfill the terms of the agreement the United States "will ramp up further sanctions."
On April 18, Ukraine, Russia, the United States, and the European Union agreed to a deal under which illegal armed groups will disarm and public buildings will be vacated.
In addition, Kyiv will offer an amnesty to protesters and demonstrators who surrender their weapons and vacate public property.
