The head of Ukraine's National Olympics Committee has resigned following claims he sought to sell tickets for the London Games on the black market.
The Ukrainian National Olympic committee also said in a statement that Volodymyr Herashchenko has pledged to cooperate with an independent investigation commission probing the alleged sales attempt.
Last week, Herashchenko said he had only been “humoring” a reporter who tried to buy Olympics tickets from him.
Following the disclosure about the case, he was suspended by Ukrainian Olympic authorities, pending an investigation.
Ukrainian Olympic committee President Serhiy Bubka has said the organization has no excess tickets to sell for the London Games.
The BBC revealed last week that Herashchenko had been exposed in a sting operation trying to sell some 100 tickets for London Olympic events.
