A smoke grenade and scuffles disrupted the Ukrainian parliament on October 6. A member of the nationalist Svoboda, or freedom, party tossed the smoke grenade just after legislators gave their preliminary approval to two bills. The Svoboda lawmaker later said he was protesting against what he called an "unconstitutional" measure relating to the conflict with Russia-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
