Ukraine Secures Return Of Three More Children From Russia

Ukraine managed to secure the return of three more children who were illegally taken to Russia, Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian parliament’s commissioner for human rights, announced on October 21. Since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian invading forces have forcibly transferred thousands of Ukrainians to Russia. In July, Maria Lvova-Belova, Russian children's commissioner, put the number of Ukrainian children taken to Russia at 700,000. The International Criminal Court in The Hague in March issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Lvova-Belova and charged both with being responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia -- a war crime under international legislation.
