Ukraine Suffers Largest Russian Air Attack Since Full-Scale Invasion Began

Russian forces overnight carried out the "largest air attack" on Ukraine since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian military's commander in chief, General Valeriy Zaluzhniy, said.

Ukraine's prosecutor general said the latest wave of Russian strikes had killed at least 16 people and injured almost 100.

"This morning, the enemy fired over 150 missiles and attack drones at peaceful Ukrainian cities. We know about 16 dead. 97 wounded, including at least two children aged 6 and 8 years old," Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said on social media.

Air defenses mobilized but casualties were reported in various cities in Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called it a massive air strike that targeted social and critical infrastructure.

The attacks took place in several waves and from different directions, with Russia deploying strategic bombers to launch the missiles.

A maternity hospital was targeted in the city of Dnipro, in the Dnipropetrovsk region in southeastern Ukraine.

...and heavily damaged a shopping mall, killing five people and injuring 15, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry wrote on Telegram.

The city of Lviv in western Ukraine was also targeted, resulting in damage to residential areas and vehicles.

The attack in Odesa killed three people and wounded at least 15, including two children, as Russian missiles hit residential buildings, according to the regional governor.

With rescue workers still working the scenes at several locations around the country, the death toll is expected to rise.
