KYIV -- A Ukrainian parliament deputy has quit the opposition party headed by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.
Dmytro Vetvytskyy today quit the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party and the Yuliya Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT) parliament faction of which Batkivshchyna is a member.
Vetvytskyy's press service told journalists he plans to launch a new political movement named Pravda (Truth).
Until today the BYuT faction had 113 out of 450 seats in the parliament.
In December, Batkivshchyna deputy chairman Oleksandr Turchynov stated that the BYuT faction in the parliament would exclude from its ranks all deputies who had collaborated with the government.
