UN: EU Must Accept 200,000 Refugees

The head of the UN refugee agency has called on the European Union to accept up to 200,000 refugees as part of a "mass relocation program" that would be binding for EU countries.

Antonio Guterres said on September 4 that the EU must mobilize "full force" for the crisis, warning that a divided European Union would benefit only smugglers and traffickers.

More than 350,000 people from conflict-hit states in the Middle East and Africa have crossed the Mediterranean in boats this year to reach Europe.

In Hungary, at least 200 migrants faced off police for a second day in the town of Bicske, refusing to get off a train that they believed would take them to the Austrian border.

Hundreds of migrants started walking from Budapest's main train station, saying they are heading to Austria, after they were not able to board trains.

And some 300 migrants have escaped from a refugee camp near the town of Roszke.
