Ban, Yanukovych Discuss Nuclear Safety, Peacekeeping At Davos

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon (L) met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Davos.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has had talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on the sidelines of the economic meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Ban said that he is looking forward to the 2011 Chornobyl and nuclear energy conference to be organized by Ukraine, in April 2011, as part of the 25th commemoration of the Chornobyl disaster.

The two also talked about ways to increase nuclear safety, including the management of waste and the rehabilitation of agricultural land.

Ban and Yanukovych also discussed issues related to food security, as well as Ukraine's support and contribution to UN peacekeeping.
