U.S. Defense Secretary Announces Tanks For Eastern Europe

U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced plans for deploying tanks and other heavy weapons to the Baltic states, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria during a visit to Estonia on June 23. He said Russia was trying to ''turn back the clock'' in Europe, but that the United States would defends its allies. Russia has said the announcement is an ''aggressive'' step. (Reuters)
