Birdman Wins Best Picture At Oscars, Poland's Ida Best Foreign Film

Weighed down with awards - Alejandro G. Inarritu poses with his Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Birdman. The film also won the Best Cinematography prize.

Julianne Moore accepts the Oscar for Best Leading Actress for her role in Still Alice, in which she portrays a 50-year-old with Alzheimer's disease.

Best Actor went to Eddie Redmayne, for his role as physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

Actors Chiwetel Ejiofar and Nicole Kidman present director Pawel Pawlikowski (right) with the Oscar for best foreign language film Ida. Filmed in black and white, Ida tells the story of a novice in 1960s Poland who must decide whether to take her vows and become a nun - after learning that her family were Jews.

The awards were presented with the usual Hollywood glitz at the 3,300-seat Dolby Theatre.
