Two topless women protesters, apparently affiliated with the Ukrainian feminist group Femen, have been detained in New York City after staging a protest at the polling station where Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump cast his ballot.
The two women, naked from the waist up, entered the polling station in midtown Manhattan about five blocks from the Trump Tower shortly after 8 a.m. on November 8.
They chanted several anti-Trump slogans -- including "Trump out of our polls" -- before they were detained and removed from the facility.
Trump voted at the polling station about two hours later.
Under U.S. and state election laws, it is a crime to demonstrate or campaign in favor or against candidates inside or near polling stations.
Police said charges were pending against the two women, who were identified on the Twitter feed of Femen International as part of its feminist protest movement.
Trump is seeking to defeat his main rival, Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton.
Trump has made numerous derogatory and lewd statements about women during his campaign.
He rejects charges by critics who call him a misogynist and unabashed sexist.
