The U.S. Treasury has slapped sanctions on the head of Iran's Basij militia and Tehran's chief prosecutor for human rights abuses in their country.
In a statement, the Treasury said the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Basij forces, Mohammad Reza Naqdi, and Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi were added to its Office of Foreign Assets Control blacklist.
The action subjects the two to visa sanctions, seeks to block any assets they may have under U.S. jurisdiction, and bans U.S. citizens from financial transactions with them.
