Vienna Jury Finds Defendants In Chechen Murder Trial Guilty

A Vienna jury has found three Chechen-born men guilty of helping to murder a Chechen exile in Vienna.

The jury sentenced one of the men, Otto Kaltenbrunner, to life in prison. His co-defendants, Suleiman Dadaev and Turpal Ali Yesherkaev, were sentenced to 19 and 16 years respectively,

The three men helped to plot and carry out the execution of Umar Israilov, an asylum seeker from Chechnya who intended to bring charges against pro-Moscow Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov for torture.

Kadyrov has denied that charge and any involvement in the incident in Vienna. The gunman who actually killed Israilov is still at large.
