Zurich Police Say Mosque Gunman Had No Links To Islamic Radicals, Far Right

Ambulances and police cars are seen outside a Muslim prayer hall in central Zurich on December 19 after three people were injured by gunfire.

Zurich police say a gunman who opened fire on people praying in a mosque in Switzerland's largest city was a Swiss citizen who had no apparent links to Islamic radicals or far-right extremists.

Police said the unidentified man -- who is a suspect in the killing of another man in Zurich on December 18 -- was found dead and is believed to have committed suicide.

The man, 24, fled the mosque after the shooting and injuring three worshippers on December 19.

A large manhunt for him was carried out before his body was found near the mosque.

Police said two of the injured suffered serious injuries in the incident and are in hospital.
