Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing uncensored, reliable news to audiences where media freedom is limited. Our Persian-language service, Radio Farda, is seeking an experienced journalist with a strong background in web writing and editing to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about online journalism and have the skills to create impactful content for a digital audience, we want to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and publish high-quality, original content for Radio Farda’s website, ensuring relevance, accuracy, and adherence to RFE/RL’s editorial standards.
  • Oversee the editorial process for online content, from breaking news updates to in-depth features. Ensure content is optimized for web platforms and engages our digital audience.
  • Collaborate with multimedia producers to incorporate video, audio, and interactive elements into web content. Ensure cross-platform synergy and effective storytelling across digital platforms.
  • Utilize RFE/RL’s content management systems to post and edit text, photos, and videos. Ensure timely and accurate updates to the website and manage multimedia galleries and interactive content.
  • Apply SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and improve website traffic. Monitor web analytics to adjust strategies and enhance audience engagement.
  • Stay informed on political, social, and economic developments in Iran and the region. Research and write web articles that offer fresh, reliable insights and meet the needs of our audience.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the integrity and quality of all online content. Review and edit contributions from staff, ensuring they meet the high standards of RFE/RL.
  • Actively contribute to the planning of web content, offering ideas for coverage and suggesting innovative angles to make stories more engaging for digital audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in web writing and editing, with a solid portfolio of published online work.
  • Native-level Persian and working knowledge of English (oral and written).
  • Proven experience in managing and editing web content, familiarity with content management systems, SEO best practices, and analytics tools.
  • Ability to work with multimedia teams and incorporate videos, images, and interactive elements into web content.
  • Strong editorial skills, capable of editing the work of others and maintaining the editorial quality of the website.
  • Open to learning and developing new skills in digital journalism and web content management.
  • Familiarity with political, social, and economic developments in the broadcast area, with an ability to provide fresh, accurate web content on these topics.
