We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Producer based in Kyiv to oversee the production of news and current affairs content, manage field logistics, and collaborate closely with correspondents. The ideal candidate will research, pitch story ideas, book studio and remote guests, and ensure editorial excellence in every production.

Our mission is to promote democratic values by providing accurate, uncensored news and open debate in countries where a free press is threatened and disinformation is pervasive. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reports the facts, undaunted by pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between production teams and correspondents; actively participate in production planning meetings.
  • Oversee field trip logistics, manage production schedules, and ensure balanced reporting through thorough inquiry management.
  • Maintain adherence to RFE/RL editorial standards and exercise sound editorial judgment.
  • Develop and update an extensive database of contacts across various expertise areas in Ukraine.
  • Conduct research to provide background information for Service hosts and program teams; suggest unique coverage angles.
  • Manage logistics for guest interviews, both in-studio and remotely.
  • Respond promptly to breaking news, sourcing appropriate guests and contributors.
  • Propose creative and well-researched content ideas during editorial meetings and contribute to long-term program planning.
  • Participate in feedback sessions, offering constructive insights to enhance program quality.
  • Stay informed about the Service’s output across all platforms, striving to increase its reach and impact.
  • Adapt to the location and time demands of journalistic work, delivering high-quality results consistently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree or certificate in communications, film studies, or journalism preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in daily television news gathering, including both line and field production.
  • Hands-on experience with live studio video production and control room operations.
  • Proficiency in camera and audio board operations, including camera switcher systems.

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure and craft impactful stories using visuals and sound.
  • Strong news judgment, attention to detail, and a keen sense of pace.
  • Interest in international events and familiarity with RFE/RL’s target regions is a plus.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate story presentation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for fostering positive relationships with team members and external partners.

Languages:

  • Native-level proficiency in Ukrainian language
  • Working proficiency in English is required.
