Application Administrator (News Production)

We are looking for Application Administrators to grow our team responsible for our news production systems. The Application Administrator is responsible for day-to-day activities related to a range of systems supporting newsroom, multimedia production and other related workflows. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation and administration of servers and news gathering and production applications.

Job responsibilities:

  • Implement, monitor, and maintain systems in support of newsroom and multimedia production processes in RFE/RL broadcasting headquarters, bureaus, and field operations, ensuring their proper operation.
  • Administer system and application security, including creating customer profiles and accounts.
  • Assist with end-user training and support issues when required, providing 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Track issues and resolutions and well as change requests related to entrusted systems.
  • Ensure successful implementation and maintenance of the defined policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to business continuity plans and updates them periodically.
  • Maintain system documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Secondary technical at minimum.

Experience:

  • Working experience in a role of application and/or systems administrator, or in an advanced user support role.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience in administering a complex application system.
  • Technical knowledge and skills relevant to server, desktop and laptop software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft server technologies and data security.
  • Maintenance and updates of computer systems.
  • Customer approach with good verbal and written service skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think analytically and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Initiative and motivation to achieve specific goals.
  • Ability to quickly anticipate, trouble-shoot and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, vendors, and external partners.

Languages:

  • English language (Working Knowledge Oral & Written)
  • Czech language
  • Other RFE/RL language welcome.

This is a locally recruited full-time position on a one-year assignment initially, with the possibility of extension for an open-ended contract after one year. The opportunity is only open to applicants with the legal right to work in the Czech Republic.

Appointment against this post is on a local basis only. Please note that for the locally advertised positions preference will be given to those with a work permit and/or a valid residence status in the Czech Republic. Locally recruited employees should reside within commuting distance of Prague, Czech Republic, or be willing to move to take up work. Salary scales for locally recruited employees are based on the best prevailing local conditions. RFE/RL does, however, cover the costs of interview travel and, upon appointment, some relocation costs.
