June 1, 2006 -- In a report issued today, the International Committee of the Red Cross says humanitarian relief activities in Iraq represented a major challenge last year.
The Red Cross said one of its Iraqi staff was killed in January 2005, and that a lack of security meant it was able to visit detainees only in a limited number of places under Iraqi control.
The organization also said it was able to visit detainees in three locations under U.S. authority.
