Ufa Boosts Foreign Trade Turnover, Reduces Losses
Ufa's foreign-trade turnover in the first half of the year grew more than 90 percent year-on-year, to $1.5 billion, RosBalt reported on 10 August. Ufa companies exported $1.37 billion in goods while importing $145 million.
Meanwhile, Ufa Deputy Mayor Albina Yusupova told a briefing on 9 August that the combined losses of Ufa companies totaled 570 million rubles ($20 million) in the first half of the year, down from 652 million rubles in the same period in 2004, "Moskovskii komsomolets v Ufe" reported on 10 August. The proportion of companies facing losses fell from one in four in January to one in five by August, Yusupova said.
