Hundreds Rally In Iraq's Basra To Protest Gaza Offensive
Hundreds of Iraqis marched through the southern city of Basra to mark Quds Day, an annual demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people, which takes place on the last Friday of Ramadan. The protesters showed support for residents of the Gaza Strip, where an Israeli offensive has killed more than 800 Palestinians. Israel says the operation is targeting Hamas militants in Gaza. The annual anti-Israeli Quds Day demonstration was first launched in 1979 by the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. (Reuters)
