Hundreds Of Yazidis Released By Islamic State In Iraq
Some 200 members of the Yazidi religious minority arrived in Kirkuk on April 8 after they were released from captivity by the Islamic State militant group. Those freed were mainly women, elderly people, and people with disabilities. Officials said that representatives of local Arab tribes had negotiated the release of some of the Yazidis, who had been kidnapped when IS fighters captured the city of Sinjar and surrounding areas in August 2014.
