Russia has confirmed its fourth case of Zika virus in a Russian man who recently visited the Dominican Republic.
Anna Popova, the chairwoman of the Russian consumer protection agency Rospotrebnadzor, made the announcement on May 25.
This is the fourth registered Zika case in the country since February.
The mosquito-borne virus has been detected in dozens of countries since it was first documented in Brazil in 2015.
The virus has been linked to thousands of cases of a rare birth defect in which babies are born with a small-sized head.
The World Health Organization declared the Zika outbreak an international health emergency on February 1.
Since then, cases have been reported in several European countries.
