Iraqi Troops Advance East Of Mosul
Iraqi Army servicemen said on October 22 they were tightening the grip on the Islamic State (IS) militant group in the town of Hamdaniya, southeast of Mosul, the group's main stronghold in Iraq. Hamdaniya, also known under the alternative names Baghdida and Qaraqosh, was inhabited by the Christian, Shabak, and Kakai minorities before IS militants took control of it in August 2014.
