Since the Taliban takeover in August, Afghanistan's economy has been collapsing while a severe drought has worsened the risk of hunger in much of the country. Afghans like Homaira, a young resident of Ghor Province, are making desperate trade-offs to survive the crisis. Shortly after her marriage, Homaira says, her husband left to search for work in Iran and her relatives sold off her possessions to buy food.
