As the UN voted to observe an annual day of remembrance for the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, families of victims welcomed the decision. But the leaders of Serbia and Bosnia's Serb-majority entity, Republika Srpska, rejected the resolution, claiming it labels the Serb people as "a genocidal nation." Officials in Republika Srpska responded to the UN vote by issuing an unprecedented call for the entity to "peacefully separate" from the rest of Bosnia.
