Biden, Trump Clash Over Afghanistan, Russia's War In Ukraine In TV Debate

U.S. President Joe Biden and former U.S. President Donald Trump clashed over the 2021 U.S. pullout of Afghanistan and the causes of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine during a July 27 CNN presidential debate in Atlanta. Trump said the withdraw of U.S. forces from Afghanistan was an "embarrassment" and encouraged Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine in 2022. Biden said Putin was a "war criminal" aimed at reestablishing part of the "Soviet empire."
