Suspect In Killing Of Former Ukrainian Lawmaker Denies Guilt
A Ukrainian man charged with shooting to death Ukrainian former lawmaker Iryna Farion on July 19 has insisted on his innocence -- but was asked by the victim's daughter at his arraignment, "Why did you kill her?" Vyacheslav Zinchenko appeared in custody on July 26 following the Lviv killing, which has prompted street protests. Farion was a controversial figure and former Ukrainian parliament member for the far-right party Svoboda. She opposed the acceptance of Russian culture and language within Ukraine.
