Security officials in Pakistan have been quoted as saying a suspected missile strike by a U.S. drone aircraft has killed up to four suspected Islamist militants in Pakistan's tribal area near the border with Afghanistan.
The strike is reported to have occurred on January 11 on the outskirts of Miranshah, in the North Waziristan tribal region.
It is the first such reported U.S. drone strike in the region since U.S.-Pakistani relations suffered severe damage after NATO helicopter strikes on a Pakistani border post on November 26 that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
