Returning To Ruins, A Displaced Afghan Goes Home To Rebuild
Khan Agha and his family fled their homes in Afghanistan's central Maidan Wardak Province four years ago amid the Taliban insurgency. With the Taliban now in power, the 70-year-old felt it was safe to return, but the house and orchards he left behind were destroyed by conflict. For Khan Agha and countless other Afghans, the chance to return home is only the start of a painful process of rebuilding.
