Azerbaijani forces have reportedly captured an ethnic-Armenian serviceman from the defense forces of the separatist territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Defense Ministry of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic said on August 8 that Hakob Indjigulyan "lost his way" and accidently entered Azerbaijani territory.
The statement said the 22-year-old soldier disappeared early on August 8.
Armenia, which backs the ethnic Armenian separatists who control Nagorno-Karabakh and several surrounding districts, has been locked in conflict with Azerbaijan for more than two decades over the enclave.
After going to war, a truce was signed in 1994, but there is still sporadic violence.
