Bomber Strikes Checkpoint Near Incoming Iraqi PM's Home

Buildings in a Baghdad neighborhood were severely damaged after a suicide bomber set off explosives at a checkpoint near the home of Iraq's prime minister-designate, Haidar al-Abadi. There were no reports of casualties besides the bomber. Abadi was nominated on August 10 as the successor to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. (Reuters)
